Amy L. Grant

Amy L. Grant is a singer-songwriter from a small rural village in Queens County, Nova Scotia, Canada and has been performing covers, along with her own original music, locally with bands and as a solo artist for most of her adult life.  A former member of the award-winning Nova Scotia Mass Choir, Amy now performs with her family band, “It’s All Relative” (Tim Whynot, vocals, guitar, bass guitar, Mandi Himmelman, vocals, percussion, Luke Grant, bass guitar, guitar, dobro, mandolin, Amy Grant, vocals, keyboard, percussion).  Amy has an appreciation for all genres of music, but many describe her songwriting as being an eclectic blend of country, pop and folk with occasional hints of gospel and bluegrass, and compare her musical style to that of Emmylou Harris, Christine McVie, Iris Dement and the Rankin Family.  She recorded her debut album, “This Time Around” (co-produced, recorded, mixed and mastered by Rob Collins at Full Frequency Recording Studio www.fullfrequency.ca), and her first single, the title track from her album, was released to online streaming platforms in February of 2025.

Amy obtained her first recording experience as a member of the NS Mass Choir singing backing vocals on track 3 of Linda Carvery’s cd (Jazz, Gospel and Blues Singer - Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada), “Yesterday/Today” (released in 2000, Recorded and Mixed at CBC Studio H, Mastered by Reg MacMichael at Put it on CD MFG, Made by Cinram, Copyright © CBC Maritimes).  Linda was the founding President and former member of the award-winning Nova Scotia Mass Choir, received an ECMA for Best Jazz Artist in 2002 for CBC recording “Yesterday/ Today”, Entertainer of the Year Award 2002 from the African Nova Scotia Music Association.

Although she enjoys the solitude of sitting at the keyboard with a notebook to write, Amy also looks forward to those times when she’s onstage sharing her music with others.  She was thrilled to be asked to sing a number of years ago at a homecoming tribute for Canada’s “First Lady of Country Music”, Carroll Baker, accompanied on guitar by her son, Luke Grant, and has performed onstage with country music singer-songwriter, Joyce Seamone, who’s single, “Testing 1-2-3” was a number one hit on Canada’s country music charts in 1972.  She and Joyce also recorded their original songs as part of a compilation album, “In Tune and On Time” (produced by Tim Clark), along with other local artists, and helped to promote the album by performing on ATV’s Breakfast Television.  She and her brother, Tim Whynot were invited by Blain Henshaw, songwriter and award-winning radio and television journalist, to perform for 105.9 Seaside FM Radio’s Christmas show a few years back, and they perform regularly as a duo or with their family band, “It’s All Relative” at various local festivals and events including Liverpool Privateer Days, Canada Day Celebrations, and the Hank Snow Tribute and Summerfest.  The band also shared their music for two sets at the Saltscapes Expo weekend in Halifax a number of years ago.  Amy has performed multiple years at the popular Harmony Bazaar Women in Song event in NS, and during the festival’s 2017th year, she shared a set onstage with Katey Day, (later known as Anica from both America’s Got Talent and Canada’s Got Talent), and Irish Mythen, (Juno nominee, and recipient of various music organization awards and accolades).  Amy was excited to be offered the opportunity to open for Canadian folk singer-songwriter, Catherine MacLellan (recipient of various music awards, and Juno winner) in February of 2020, however much to her disappointment, the show was cancelled due to covid.  In December of 2025 Amy and her family band were thrilled to be the opening act for Jon Mullane’s (award winning, Billboard charting rock/pop singer/songwriter performer) “Feels Like Christmas” tour show at the Astor Theatre in Liverpool. 

Amy has continued to release single tracks from her album to online streaming platforms as well as local, national and international radio since February, 2025, with “This Time Around” peaking at #10 (May, 2025) on the Canadian Indie Country Countdown Top 150 charts.  Her latest single release, “I’m Not Supposed to Want You” peaked at #2 on the CICC and “This Time Around” was featured as one of Museboat’s top 100 popular songs for 2025.  Amy’s videos have been showcased on The East Coast Hour with Chuck Boudreau, she’s been interviewed and had her music featured on Paul Mash TV, and she has been named spotlight artist of the week on the international Museboat Live Channel, before recently receiving a Musejam Top 40 MBMC Chart Nomination for May-June, 2025 of which her title track single reached the #5 position.  Amy is a 2025 Josie Music Awards Nominee for Female Vocalist of the Year in the Americana/Folk category, and 2025 Elite Music Award Nominee for Breakout Artist of the Year.  Her latest single release was a summer finalist for Best Modern Country Song for the World Songwriting Awards, 2025.  Amy released her very first Christmas single, “It’s Christmas Time Again” on Christmas Eve, 2025 with her family band, and continues to write and perform with the hope of releasing more music in the future.
